A finely executed Russian Orthodox Festal icon depicting the Twelve Great Feasts, centered by the Resurrection (Descent into Hades) and surrounded by richly detailed narrative scenes.
Painted in egg tempera on wood, the icon features a luminous gilded ground and an elaborate engraved border with polychrome ornament imitating cloisonné enamel, creating a refined, jewel-like appearance. The composition and painting reflect the distinctive style of the Mstera workshops of Central Russia.
Presented in an analoy format with traditional rear splines, this is a strong and visually compelling example of 19th-century Russian devotional art, combining liturgical significance with decorative appeal.
