Antique Russian Imperial 84 Silver Cigarette Cigar Case “ДЮШЕСЪ” “Dyushes”

Rare and impressive antique Russian Imperial silver cigarette case featuring finely engraved advertising decoration for the famous pre-Revolutionary cigarette brand “ДЮШЕСЪ” (“Dyushes”), produced by the renowned “Фабрики Дукат” (“Ducat Factory”).

The front is beautifully engraved in elegant Art Nouveau taste with elaborate scrolling ornament, commercial typography, and Imperial decorative motifs, including an engraved Imperial double-headed eagle. Original gilt interior.

The inscriptions read:

“Папиросы №20” (“Cigarettes No. 20”)

“ДЮШЕСЪ” (“Dyushes”)

“Торг. Домъ В. Пигитъ” (“Trading House of V. Pigit”)

“Фабрики Дукат” (“Ducat Factory”)

“50 Ш.” (“50 pieces”)

Although originally intended for cigarettes, the unusually large size and substantial construction make this piece equally suitable for small cigars or cheroots.

The reverse displays a striking minimalist engraved geometric border design, while the interior retains its original gilt-washed finish. The case is fully hallmarked inside with Russian Imperial assay marks including the kokoshnik head mark, 84 silver standard, and legible maker’s initials ( not clear mark ).

An exceptional example of Imperial Russian silver, combining luxury craftsmanship, tobacciana, and rare advertising memorabilia from one of the most famous tobacco manufacturers of Imperial Russia.
