A rare and impressive Austrian silver-gilt ecclesiastical chalice by the renowned Viennese firm Mayerhofer & Klinkosch, dated 1840 and bearing the maker's mark M&K together with the Austrian 13-loth silver standard.

Executed in an elegant Gothic Revival style, the chalice is richly adorned with finely modeled figures of the Four Evangelists — Saint Matthew, Saint Mark, Saint Luke, and Saint John. The removable cover is crowned by an architectural finial, while the applied figures and decorative elements retain their original screw-mounted construction.

The refined architectural design, exceptional craftsmanship, and original fire-gilded surface reflect the high quality associated with early Viennese ecclesiastical silver. Comparable church silver by Mayerhofer & Klinkosch is rarely encountered on today's market, particularly in this scale and state of preservation. A distinguished and highly decorative example of Austrian sacred silver from the first half of the nineteenth century.
