An exceptional and rare Imperial Russian silver-gilt kovsh of impressive scale, masterfully crafted by Antip Kuzmichev in Moscow, 1889. Bearing the 88-silver standard, the piece is richly decorated with a refined combination of champlevé and plique-à-jour enamel, creating a striking interplay of translucent and opaque colors across its elegant, elongated boat-form body raised on a shaped pedestal base.
The finely pierced and enameled ornament continues throughout, complemented by the original matching spoon featuring en suite enamel work and a twisted handle with a stylized finial. The kovsh retains its engraved inventory number and reflects the high level of craftsmanship associated with one of Moscow’s notable late Imperial silversmiths.
A highly decorative and collectible presentation piece, distinguished by its size, quality, and the rare survival of its original matching spoon.
