Russian Silver-Gilt Cloisonné and Plique-à-Jour Enamel Casket

Antip Kuzmichev, Moscow, 1891

Fine Imperial Russian silver-gilt casket of faceted rectangular form, richly decorated with vibrant cloisonné enamel panels in turquoise, cobalt blue, white, and polychrome tones with stylized floral scrollwork and geometric ornament. The lid is beautifully embellished with delicate plique-à-jour enamel creating a translucent, stained-glass effect. The hinged lid opens to a finely fire-gilded interior, and the front is fitted with an ornate clasp.

The bottom with monogrammed letters. 

Hallmarked Moscow, 1891, 84 silver standards, with maker’s mark for the renowned Moscow silversmith Antip Kuzmichev.
