An important Imperial Russian Icon of the Vladimir Mother of God, set in an exceptional silver-gilt oklad by the renowned Sazikov workshop, Moscow, dated 1833.

The finely executed oklad is richly worked in repoussé throughout, with all garments rendered in high relief and framed by elegant decorative borders. The composition is further enhanced by applied cherub heads at the corners and large, finely detailed halos over the Virgin and Christ Child, creating a striking and luminous visual presence. Notably, the piece retains its original gilding.

The oklad bears clear Moscow hallmarks, including the date 1833 and assay mark with initials ND, confirming its authenticity and period.

The iconography follows the revered Vladimirskaya Bogoroditsa type.

The painting, executed in gesso and tempera on wood panel, is consistent with the first half of the 19th century (circa 1820–1840) and shows characteristics closely aligned with the Moscow school.
