Large 19th-century French gilt bronze allegorical sculpture titled "L'Aurore" (Aurora - Allegory of Dawn).
The Sculpture by Louis Valentin Elias Robert ( 1821 - 1874 ) Signed at the base L.V.Robert. He was a student of David d'Angers and James Pradier.
Finely cast female figure holding flowing drapery forming a dramatic arc above the figure, symbolizing the rising dawn.
The gilt bronze base depicts playing cherubs with musical instruments.
Mounted on an original black slate base.
Size: 33,5" ( 85 cm ) height, 10" ( 25,5 cm ) width, 9" ( 23 cm ) depth.
