Unusual large early 20th century Imperial Russian cigarette case, executed in silver with applied gold elements.
This impressive double-sided example features a deeply sculpted high relief military scene, depicting a dynamic battlefield with artillery and cavalry, centered on a powerful composition of a wounded soldier being tended by a nurse, rendered with strong movement and narrative detail.
The reverse is decorated with applied gold monograms, shoulder board (epaulette), and facsimile inscriptions, representing names and dedications, and clearly suggesting a presentation piece.
The interior retains its original gold wash. The piece is further distinguished by its substantial weight, giving it a strong presence and quality feel in hand.
