Russian icon of the Mother of God “The Virgin of the Sign” (Znamenie), late 19th century, attributed to the Kostroma school.

The Virgin is shown in the traditional orans pose with the Christ Child in a medallion. Well-balanced composition with expressive faces, rich coloration, and gilded halos.
